"For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life." John 3:16

Is it that simple?

Yes.

We are sinners. We are incapable of satisfying God's standard of perfection. 

God is perfect. He sent his Son, born of the Virgin Mary, lived a perfect life and was crucified on the cross, paying the debt of ALL our sins. The sins of the entire world (past, present and future). Three days later, he rose from the dead. Victory is his, and he invites each of us to share in his victory. 

We can do nothing to earn a spot in heaven. To ensure our place in Heaven, and a life of inexpressable joy amid the trials and tribulations here on earth, we must simply Believe. Believe that Jesus Christ died on the cross for all our sins and rose again. No longer are we separated by sin. We are children of God. 

"In this is love, not that we loved God, but that he loved us and sent his Son to be the propitiation for our sins." 

Propitiation = the perfect and just satisfaction
